Innovations in water system management event - 10th October
We’re hosting an event on 10th October alongside our certified partner, Guardian Water Treatment, looking at innovations in water system management. Taking place at the Lloyd’s Building in London, the event is free to attend.
You can register here.
About the event Water system pre-commissioning cleaning and on-going treatment has remained unchanged for many years, relying on sampling, laboratory analysis and heavy handed flushing to check quality and treat contamination; processes which waste energy and water and in some cases are ineffective at finding and dealing with the root cause of problems.
Bringing together leading-lights from industry and academia, the Guardian Water Treatment hosted event, will examine current water system management practices, highlighting where problems lie and their possible solutions. With the rest of our building services using the latest BMS innovations to provide a real-time picture of operations, isn’t it time water systems followed suit?
Speakers: Geoff Prudence, Chairman for CIBSE FM: Geoff is well known for actively championing and driving improved standards of delivery in the built environment, with over 40 years’ experience in private and public sectors including the banking sector, critical environments, large property portfolios, Transport/Rail Infrastructure, Local Authorities, District /Regional Government and the Education sector, with particular emphasis in recent years with leading change and business transformation. He is the only person to be made a Fellow of CIBSE, BIFM and RICS.
Steven Booth, MD for Guardian Water Treatment: Steven Booth is Managing Director for Guardian Water Treatment. A highly respected and experienced water treatment chemist, Steven has worked across a range of industry sectors; including high rise commercial, Higher Education, Local Government, Manufacturing, Commercial and Food & Beverage. Key competencies include the development of integrated holistic solutions to provide the most sustainable and efficient water treatment processes.
Dr. Mahroo Eftekhari, Programme Director (MSc): Building Services Engineering at Loughborough University: Dr Mahroo Eftekhari is the course director for MSc in Low Energy Building Services Engineering and a Reader in Building Service Engineering at Loughborough University. She has long-term interest in developing optimal controllers for reducing energy consumption and improving thermal comfort in buildings. Her main areas of research are Building Energy Management System (BEMS), fuzzy supervisory controller, performance of HVAC pipes, Model predictive controller (MPC) and constrained optimisation.
In collaboration with Tata Steel Europe, Dr. Mahroo has set up Building & Industrial Services Pipework Academy (BISPA) which delivers CIBSE accredited CPD courses in BIM and pipe networks (www.bispa.org).
Steve Munn, MD for Hevasure: Steve Munn is an experienced research scientist having worked in senior R&D roles at Lucas Aerospace, Johnson Matthey and Mitel Telecom. In 2011, Steve joined Midland Corrosion Services (working with his brother, Dr Phil Munn) and carried out many failure investigations in commercial HVAC systems. It was while working at MCS that the short-comings of the existing approach to commissioning and maintaining such systems became apparent.
Steve launched Hevasure Ltd in 2014 having developed and trialled state-of-the art monitoring technology aimed at protecting heating and chilled water systems from corrosion damage.
